This article contains spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 finale, “At Last.”
Now that Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) got their happy ending, The Summer I Turned Pretty stars want to see what happens next for the other relationships in the buzzy series.
Sure, Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor (Rain Spencer) ended the final season on a happy note, affirming their love for each other as Taylor decides to move with Steven to San Francisco. Even Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) found happiness in a potential new relationship with Denise (Isabella Briggs). And with news of the upcoming Summer I Turned Pretty movie in the works from creator Jenny Han, the stars tells Entertainment Weekly they hope their onscreen romances will develop further in the new chapter of the franchise.

“I root for them — that’s the long and short of it,” Spencer says of Steven and Taylor. “I’d like to see them be in a relationship and just see what a real relationship looks like, because they’ve been trying to get there.”
Kaufman agrees, pointing out how Steven and Taylor being on the same page in the season finale is a relatively new thing. “For the longest time they haven’t actually been together,” he says. “They’ve been scared to commit. It would be interesting [to see].”
With all the talk about the missing “Bonrad” wedding in the finale, Kaufman and Taylor never even considered an engagement or nuptials for their own onscreen couple. “Wow, a wedding?!” Kaufman says with a laugh before joking that “they just met.”
Their costar Casalegno might be the biggest “Staylor” fan, bringing up how much he loves their relationship multiple times during the interview. “I’m rooting for you guys,” he tells them. “Stand the test of time, please.”
That’s one of the reasons why he hopes the upcoming movie will spend some time in San Francisco to continue following Steven and Taylor’s relationship. “I would love to see California for these folks,” he says. “That would be cool. Y’all have great onscreen chemistry, so it’s fun to watch all their scenes.”

Casalegno also has some ideas for his own arc in the movie now that Jeremiah has discovered his love of being a chef. “I would love to see Jeremiah pursuing his passions and seeing where that leads,” he says.
As for Jeremiah’s love life? Casalegno has no idea what’s in store, but he hopes that his new romance with Denise lasts despite the fact that she’s also moving to San Francisco with Steven to continue building their game startup. Does that mean Jeremiah would move to California with her?

“Oh, man. I don’t know,” Casalegno admits. “I think San Francisco has probably a better culinary scene than Cousins, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Jeremiah was to hop on that train with them. I would just have to pick Jenny’s brain about that because I don’t know, but I’d be excited to see what it’s like in San Francisco [in the movie].”
When EW took the question of Jeremiah and Denise’s fate to Han herself, she was concerningly vague on whether their relationship was doomed from the start.
“I mean, we’ll see!” Han says with a laugh.
Now we really need to see that movie ASAP. Keep Jeremiah and Denise in your thoughts and prayers until then.
