Local artist Elizabeth Clyde is back with new music, releasing her latest single, “How It Should Be.” The song marks her first release in some time and signals an exciting return to sharing her work with listeners.
The track came together quickly, Clyde said, and centres on love, vulnerability and embracing uncertainty. “It’s very much about the type of love that really fills you up and the uncertainty that can come around it, but also that uncertainty not spoiling the beauty that you can get from loving another person,” she said.
“How It Should Be” is also a milestone behind the scenes for Clyde. She wrote, produced, mixed and mastered the song herself, giving her full creative control from the first idea to the finished track.
With the new release, Clyde said she is focused on building her catalogue with more music on the way. She is also looking forward to getting back into the local music scene, with hopes of playing shows and festivals across Saskatchewan in the months ahead.
Elizabeth Clyde stopped by Mix 103 to chat with Calum McAnally about the new song, her songwriting process and some of her inspirations. Listen to the full conversation below.
