Elvis Presley takes center stage in EPiC, Baz Luhrmann‘s second look at the life and career of the King of Rock and Roll.
In a new Instagram update, the director takes fans behind the scenes as he puts the finishing touches on his latest project. Luhrmann’s new film features never-before-seen footage showcasing some of Presley’s most iconic live performances.
Additionally, the film allows Elvis to tell his own story and offers an intimate look into his life and legacy. The unseen footage utilized for the new film was locked in a vault for years from the iconic 1970s concert films Elvis: That’s The Way It Is and Elvis on Tour.
In a video clip, Luhrmann was seen in a recording studio, putting the finishing touches on the film’s soundtrack. He revealed details of the project to fans thirsty for more information.

“I’m here, recording music for EPiC, Elvis Presley in Concert,” the director began. “Elvis sings and tells his story like never before.”
“We are heading towards the Toronto International Film Festival. And cannot wait to be TCB’ing on the rest of this movie,” Luhrmann concluded.
Fans were thrilled to learn an update on the newest project. The director first tackled Presley’s story in 2022 in the feature film Elvis, starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. The film earned eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Butler.
“Great work and dedication Baz! Carrying on the life and legacy with excellence,” wrote one follower. A second penned, “Thank youuuuuu for all you do for the Elvis fans/family!!!”
A third fan commented, “Thank you, Baz, for all your hard work. So excited to see it!!” “Thank you, thank you, thank you for caring and continuously supporting the Elvis Presley legacy!” shared a fourth social media user.
Luhrmann announced in July 21 Instagram post that the film will make its world premiere this September at the 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. “Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert World Premiere at TIFF in Sept… 7 wks and counting!!” read the post’s caption.
It continued, “We’re very proud to announce Bazmark’s latest production, with Authentic Studios and Sony Music Vision; Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert.”
An official release date has not yet been set for EPiC.
