Sarah Ferguson once gave a cryptic, six-word reply after being asked about Prince Andrew potentially moving out of their home, Royal Lodge. The Duke of York has been in a reported dispute over renovations at the 30-room property in Windsor, thought to be worth £30million.
Fergie, as she is affectionately known, has been living in the 19th-century Grade-II listed building with Andrew since 2003 despite being divorced for many years. The Crown Estate, which owns it, granted the Duke a 75-year lease agreement.
Last year, Andrew’s stay in the Royal Lodge was uncertain after reports suggested the King wanted to evict him and move him to a smaller residence as he was struggling with its upkeep.
During that time, when news of the monarch withdrawing private funding for Andrew’s £3m security emerged, Fergie was asked by Spanish ¡HOLA! TV about rumours regarding Andrew’s eviction.
But her remark appeared to neither confirm or deny anything as she said: “Don’t always believe what you read.”
