DANCE

‘The Sacred Veil’

Dancers from the University of Oklahoma School of Dance and the Windsong Chamber Chorale perform “The Sacred Veil,” with choreography by Sophia Smith set on a choral work by Eric Whitacre, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. April 12 at Inspiration Point Center for the Arts, 16311 U.S. 62 West, Eureka Springs. Tickets are $40-$60, $20 for children under 18 with the purchase of an adult ticket. Visit inspirationpointarts.org/events.

It’s only the second presentation of the ballet, which Smith created in 2025. Whitacre wrote the choral work, originally commissioned by the Los Angeles Master Chorale and recorded in 2020, using a text by his friend, poet and medieval history professor Charles Anthony Silvestri, on the faculty at Washburn University. It reflects Silvestri’s journey toward healing after the death of his wife from cancer; the title refers to the boundary between the world of the living and what lies beyond.
