The trailer for Euphoria‘s third and final season is now online, giving fans a more in-depth preview at the high-stakes intensity beginning on April 12. Among its most buzz-worthy items include the last TV appearance of Eric Dane, who died in February from respiratory failure related to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Until now, fans of the late actor were unsure if his character would ever return.
“Remember me?” Jules (Hunter Schaefer) asks Cal (Dane) in the new clip. “How can I forget?” Dane’s character replies.
Elsewhere in the trailer for Euphoria season 3, Zendaya is back as Rue, who has relapsed far from home and is caught up in a drug ring in Mexico. Meanwhile, her fellow East Highland High alums are all on their own journeys—some good, some pretty bad. Lexi (Maude Apatow) is enjoying success in Hollywood as a TV writer, and HBO can’t help but inject corporate synergy by letting Lexi roam the Warner Bros. lot. Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie is banking on her looks as an OnlyFans creator. She’s married to Jacob Elordi‘s football jock turned well-to-do construction/real estate worker. But it seems that someone from Cal’s past is coming after them in a scary way.

Speaking of Cal, he seems to be fine? After being arrested at the end of season 2, we now see Cal out and about. He’s at a swanky event—possibly Nate and Cassie’s wedding?—and reuniting with Jules. Still, Euphoria season 3 will mark Eric Dane’s final onscreen television performance. His next film, Family Secrets, is in post-production.
“Cal and I are very similar in that we know what it’s like to lead a double life,” Dane told Netflix during the final interview before his tragic death. “I’ve had experience with that with my battle with drugs and alcohol. I know what it is like to not have my insides match my outside.”
We’ll see Dane for the last time when he returns as Cal in season 3. For those wondering how Euphoria could still crank the drama up to eleven, I’m sure Cal’s return to Nate’s life will come with some more shocking, hard truths. After all, it wouldn’t be Euphoria any other way.
