WARNING! The following contains spoilers for the premiere of Peacemaker Season 2 on HBO Max
Peacemaker has returned with its highly anticipated second season. At the end of the first season, Chris Smith walks past the Justice League just after he’s finished saving the day. “You’re late,” he tells them. While we see the silhouettes of Superman and Wonder Woman, the only characters that speak are Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and The Flash (Ezra Miller). However, James Gunn has since confirmed that Season 1 is not considered DCU canon, making Season 2 the true start of Peacemaker’s place in the new continuity.
At the beginning of Season 2, Episode 1, which premiered on HBO Max Aug. 21, Chris wakes up to let Eagly out. He enters his father’s lab, where he discovers a door leading to another world where his dad (Robert Patrick) is alive. We then cut forward six months into the future where Peacemaker is on his way to an interview with the Justice Gang.
So which superheroes and villains appear in the new season of Peacemaker? Find out below.
DCU Cameos in Peacemaker Season 2
Maxwell Lord
Maxwell Lord interviews Peacemaker to join the Justice Gang. As they interview, Maxwell doesn’t realize the button for the microphone is broken, so Peacemaker overhears them as they insult him. He is played by Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad).

Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner in ‘Superman’
Green Lantern (Guy Gardner)
Guy Gardner joins Maxwell to interview Peacemaker. He was supposedly tasked with setting up the microphone, but he tasked that out to the bodyguard. The character is played by Nathan Fillion (The Rookie, Firefly).
Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl in ‘Superman’
Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders)
Hawkgirl is also there to interview Peacemaker. She is played by Isabela Merced(The Last of Us, Alien: Romulus).
Peacemaker (Chris Smith)
Okay, granted, this one might seem a little confusing. In the premiere, Peacemaker finds a door to another multiverse. One night, he stumbles through the door and finds a world where his brother Keith (David Denman) and his father are still alive, and he is dating Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland). At the end of the episode, Chris is attacked by this world’s version of Peacemaker. The two go back through the portal where they fight. Ultimately, the original Peacemaker kills the multiverse version of Peacemaker to end the episode. We’ll assume, for now, that this is the same universe that Superman (2025) is set in, thus explaining how Season 2 of the show is canon but not Season 1.
