Former royal butler Grant Harrold has revealed what his experience of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was like behind closed doors. Mr Harrold previously worked for King Charles between 2004 and 2011, whilst the now-monarch was still Prince of Wales.
The 66-year-old has seen his reputation in tatters since his connection with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was exposed, with his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office taking place last month, on February 19. Arrested on his birthday, Andrew, who always denied any wrongdoing in the Epstein scandal, was released under investigation later that evening.
Speaking to LADbible during an episode of Honesty Box, Mr Harrold admitted that, although their interactions were few and far between, he gathered an inkling into what Andrew was like.
He said: “So my interactions with him were very few and far between, and when I did have any dealings with him, in fairness to him, he was polite.
“You know, there would be a, kind of, ‘thank you’ or whatever, but a lot of people would describe [this] entitled feeling.”
He did add that Andrew did appear different to his family members, such as King Charles, Princess Anne and the late Prince Philip.
Mr Harrold added: “You got the feeling he thought he was better than everyone, just his mannerisms and the way he was. And what was weird for me was no other member of the family did you get that vibe from, not from the Queen, not from Prince Philip, not from his brother Charles, not from Anne, none of them.”
Explaining further, he said that he didn’t want to be in Andrew’s presence, adding: “But with him, he had this, I can’t even explain it to you. I just didn’t want to be in his presence.”
After being stripped of his titles – including his princely title – last year, Andrew is set to move into his permanent residence on the Sandringham estate soon.
