“Family Karma”’s Amrit Kapai and Husband Nicholas Welcome Their First Baby and Share Her Name (Exclusive)

Amrit Kapai and his husband, Nicholas Kouchoukos, are officially parents!

The Family Karma stars, who tied the knot in April 2022, welcomed their baby daughter, Anya Iris Kapai-Kouchoukos, this past weekend via surrogate. Sharing exclusive photos of their little one with PEOPLE, Kapai explains that becoming a father has become his newfound purpose.

“Both Anya and the surrogate are doing well. The first 48 hours of Anya’s life were spent with the surrogate, her mother, Nicholas and I,” he tells PEOPLE. “The four of us spent many hours together in a hospital room with our sleeping beauty.”

“We had delicate interactions. We smiled, laughed and shed a few tears,” Kapai continues. “When it came time to part ways, we witnessed the most gentle and beautiful goodbye.”

“We are now a family of three — well, four, including Theo. It has been a wild ride, but one I desperately needed in this phase of my life. Anya is now my purpose. Nicholas and I are thrilled to embark on the journey of fatherhood,” the TV personality adds.

Kouchoukos tells PEOPLE that he can already see signs of his daughter’s personality as she settles into life at home. “It’s hard to put into words, but when I look at Anya Iris, my heart flutters like I was on a rollercoaster,” he says. “I can tell she’s going to have a strong personality.”

“Baby girl hasn’t stopped stretching out her whole body since she was in the womb. She’s constantly moving and squeaking. A bundle of joy!” he adds.

In May, the couple exclusively shared with PEOPLE that they were about to become parents for the first time. “We were elated when we found out that our surrogate is pregnant,” they told PEOPLE at the time.

They added, “It was so surreal to hear the news we had been anticipating for so long. Each of us has wanted to be a father as long as we both can remember. Knowing our dream is coming to life puts an ear-to-ear grin on our faces.”

As they waited for their next chapter to begin, the Bravo stars said they just can’t wait to grow their family. “Well, we’re certainly excited to become official daddies!” they said.

“Jokes aside, we’re thrilled for this new chapter. Becoming parents as a same-sex couple is deeply meaningful for us — not only because we’ve dreamed of starting a family, but also because it represents love, resilience and progress,” they continued.

Kapai and Kouchoukos added, “We feel honored to be stepping into this new chapter and can’t wait to share our lives with our child. It means everything to be building our family.”
