Legendary DJ and producer Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim, celebrated the launch of his debut book, It Ain’t Over… ’Til the Fatboy Sings, with an exclusive Q&A event last night at W1 Curates in London. The highly illustrated title, which commemorates his four decades in show business, is set for release on October 16th.

Hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Sarah Story, the intimate conversation took guests on a journey through Cook’s groundbreaking career—from his early days honing his sound in Brighton’s vibrant club scene to achieving global success as an electronic music icon. The event provided media, fans, and friends with a rare, personal insight into the stories, images, and memories that define his career.

When asked why he chose this moment for the book, Cook simply noted: “It’s 40 years this year that I quit my day job and joined the circus. I thought about having a big party but this seemed better.”

The producer shared several memorable anecdotes, including meeting Paul McCartney while performing on Top of the Pops with The Housemartins, calling it “the most exciting day of my life.” He also recounted the surreal experience of sharing a dressing room with Madonna at The Hacienda early in his career. Cook even revealed his teenage journalistic ambition, recalling how he interviewed Adam Ant for Peroxide Magazine at the age of 15, having to reschedule the interview because he “had to go to school.”

It Ain’t Over… ’Til the Fatboy Sings (Rocket 88 Books) captures these monumental moments, offering a unique retrospective look at one of dance music’s most enduring and mischievous figures.
