It’s Sunday evening, and that can only mean one thing – it’s Strictly Come Dancing results show tonight. It was Icons week this week, which gave us another set of incredible performances from the celebrities and their professional partners, embodying a whole host of pop legends. From Alex Kingston transforming into Dolly Parton, to Lewis Cope channelling his inner Johnny Cash, the competition was as hot as ever.
However, as the final draws ever nearer, rumours are starting to go around about which celebrities we might see on the dance floor for the 2026 season of Strictly, no doubt spurred on by the bets placed on what TV personalities will fill Tess and Claudia’s shoes following their shock news to quit the beloved show after this season.
Who is the first confirmed celebrity for Strictly 2026?
This morning (26th October) Dani Dyer posted a picture of her with Vicky Pattison at the Strictly live show, congratulating her friend on her performance.
Her caption read, “my beautiful @vickypattison just love you so much and watching you live was just PERFECT!!”
Vicky then replied in the comments saying, “I will be front row every week next year watching you SMASH IT”, so it’s safe to assume that Dani Dyer is the first confirmed celebrity for Strictly Come Dancing 2026.
Why couldn’t Dani Dyer take place this year?
Many avid Strictly fans will know that Dani was actually meant to take part in this year’s celebrity line-up. However, after suffering an injury whilst training for the first live show, Dani had to pull out from the competition. In a statement at the time, she said, “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny… it turns out I have fractured my ankle.”
She went on, “Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have said I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show.”
Who replaced Dani Dyer in this season?
It was up in the air for a while as to whether Dani would be replaced at all, but in the last minute, it was revealed that Amber Davies would take her place.
Amber is now a clear favourite to win, and as Dani looks to have her place confirmed for next year, it seems everything has worked out for all parties.
We personally can’t wait to see what Dani brings to the dancefloor next year, and it seems fans feel the same way. “Can’t wait till it’s your turn next year Dan!!! We will all be there rooting for you and supporting you❤️❤️❤️❤️” commented one fan.
Strictly Come Dancing is available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer from 9pm
