Country legend John Prine’s family has a brand-new reason to celebrate.
The late country-folk legend’s son, Tommy Prine, and his wife, Savannah, welcomed their first child together on September 24 in Nashville, Tenn. Their son, Theodore Chandler “Teddy” Prine, arrived at 2:01 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 3 oz.
The couple shared that their son’s arrival was especially meaningful after years of fertility challenges. “After two years of trying and even beginning the IVF process, we were overjoyed to find out we had gotten pregnant naturally,” they explained, adding that their doctors called it “a true medical miracle.”

They also reflected on the timing of Teddy’s birth: “In perfect fashion, Teddy made his polite arrival between AmericanaFest and You Got Gold, two of the busiest weeks of the year for our family. Now with him in our arms, we feel more complete than ever.”
On Instagram, Tommy and Savannah posted a photo of themselves with their new bundle of joy and wrote, “On September 24th at 2:01 am our hearts utterly exploded to make room for the love we have for our son, Theodore Chandler Prine ♥️ (but to dad…. He’s just Teddy 🧸).”

John Prine, who passed away in April 2020 due to complications from COVID-19, remains one of the most influential voices in Americana and country-folk music. Over the course of his career, he won five Grammy Awards and gifted the world with songs like “Angel From Montgomery”, “Hello in There”, “I Want to Be With You Always” and “All the Best.”
He is survived by his wife, Fiona Whelan Prine, and sons Tommy and Jack. Now, with baby Teddy’s arrival, his musical legacy extends to a new generation.
