Michael Braswell received an unusual Christmas gift. The former LSU infielder announced he has signed a professional contract with the Kansas City Royals organization. The team signed Braswell as a pitcher, a source confirmed to LouisianaSports.net.

Braswell went undrafted in July’s MLB Draft but has been working to regain his form as a pitcher. That is something he discussed on After Further Review shortly after the Tigers won the College World Series in June.
As a freshman at South Carolina in 2022, Braswell made seven relief appearances, recording three saves.
During his two seasons with the Gamecocks and two at LSU, Braswell played in 234 games with 203 starts. After hitting .311 during his first season with the Tigers, his average plummeted to .189 his senior season. He still played stellar defense at third base, committing just three errors.
Braswell has posted videos on social media of his pitching workouts, sitting mid-90s with his fastball.
Ten members of the 2025 LSU national championship team were selected in the MLB Draft, including six pitchers. Kade Anderson was the third overall pick of the Seattle Mariners.
