Following the news of B’s death, Jones said the cancer had first been diagnosed when she was a child and claimed: “It’s the real reason why the family relocated quite frequently, so that they could access the best treatment at the time for chordoma: a rare form of spinal cancer that was always going to kill her.”
B had recalled being raised by a loving family, but always knowing that the legendary musician was her father. Before succumbing to pneumonia caused by Aids in 1991, she said Freddie bequeathed her 17 volumes of his personal diaries in which he seemingly documented his life for the woman.
“The circumstances of my birth may seem, by most people’s standards, unusual and even outrageous. That should come as no surprise. It never detracted from his commitment to love and look after me. He cherished me like a treasured possession.”
B had acknowledged the silence of those in the know, attributing it to their loyalty to Freddie: “Those who have been aware of my existence kept his greatest secret out of loyalty to Freddie. That I choose to reveal myself in my own midlife is my decision and mine alone.”
Alongside Austin’s denial of her existence, Freddie’s live-in personal assistant, Peter Freestone, who worked with the legend for 12 years until his death, also questioned the allegations on social media.
“I never saw any diaries. I never saw any child,” he wrote, but added: “I’m not saying they don’t exist… It was a surprise to me when I heard. Very much.”
Legendary Queen frontman Mercury died in 1991 at the age of 45 from bronchopneumonia, an AIDS related complication. His death came just one day after he revealed he had the disease.
