A close associate of Meghan Markle‘s former publicist has broken their silence following news of her departure after merely three months on the job. Emily Robinson had only recently joined as communications director this past June, bringing her previous experience from Netflix.
Emily was viewed as a contentious appointment given her prior work on Netflix’s The Crown, a series that promoted harmful storylines about the Royal Family. She became the tenth individual recruited as Meghan’s spokesperson within a five-year period.
Speaking out since Emily’s exit became public, one of her associates disclosed that she personally chose to end her position after three months.
They revealed, “It was her decision. She left a few weeks ago. She’s not a quitter, so things must have been pretty horrible for her to go.”
Ms Robinson’s LinkedIn profile presently contains no mention of her work with Meghan, though it does outline other former positions she has occupied, reports the Express.
Two of Meghan’s previous publicists, James Holt and Miranda Barbot, remained with the organization and have been elevated to non-PR positions.
Current members of the Sussex team include Liam Maguire, the European communications director, and Meredith Maines, the couple’s chief communications officer.
Meredith had a meeting with the King’s press secretary, Tobyn Andreae, during the summer months. This interaction is believed to have facilitated the subsequent meeting between the King and Harry.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed to the Express, “Ms. Robinson oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of With Love, Meghan, and additional support for the production company. She did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.”
This update follows closely on the heels of Meghan teasing a new launch from her brand, As Ever.
As Ever is Meghan’s lifestyle brand, which includes rosé wine and jams. She has gifted products from her range to close friends and fellow celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian.
However, Meghan was snubbed by Khloe, who, instead of tagging Khloe in a post about the gift, shared photos from her sister, Kylie Jenner’s birthday.
Meghan has also been in hot water herself recently, as she shared a video which a body language expert, Judi James, called “non feminist.”
Talking about the video, which showcased a trip to New York, Judi said, “Despite head-hugging Gloria Steinem to look like a loving family member, Meghan’s video seems to feed into the very non-feminist cliché about the woman being the one with all the shoes, make-up, and designer clothing while the man just hangs around in casual pants looking on and waiting with a wry sense of humor.”
Judi also noted that Harry seemed to play into the cliché Meghan is portraying. “Harry, however, is shown in the corner of this ‘temple of femininity’ in a mismatched pair of grey sweat pants and a t-shirt,” she said.
“He looks indulgently at his wife as though totally used to this level of styling to launch her on the world, while he is shown to appear to have little if any interest in his own styling ritual. With his legs crossed at the ankles and one hand on his hip, he looks as though he is waiting for her to get ready. It reminds us of the old traditional cliches about the differences between men and women: women dress up and men just show up.”
