Catherine O’Hara dies at 71, remembered as the award-winning star known for “Home Alone,” “Beetlejuice” and “Schitt’s Creek.”
Legendary Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara, beloved for her roles in “Home Alone,” “Best in Show” and “Schitt’s Creek,” has died at 71.
While the cause and location of her death is not yet known, O’Hara’s manager confirmed the news of her death Friday, Jan. 30 to People. TMZ was first to report the news.
Active on screen since the 1970s, O’Hara rose to fame on “SCTV,” the Canadian sketch comedy series that also launched stars like Martin Short, Rick Moranis and Eugene Levy. O’Hara won an Emmy in 1982 for her writing on the show.
Her performance as Moira Rose, the theatrically high-maintenance family matriarch in “Schitt’s Creek,” won her an Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy in 2020.
O’Hara most recently appeared alongside Seth Rogen in his film-industry satire “The Studio” on Apple TV, which also earned her an Emmy nomination.
