The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry is not exactly in a good place. There have been rumblings that things could be turning for the better, particularly after Harry recently met with his father, King Charles. But that hasn’t materialized into a meeting between the siblings, despite reports that both the King and Kate Middleton were pushing for it. And now, it seems like other things might be coming between the two.
RadarOnline.com is reporting that, despite all that has been said, the real reason William is upset at Harry is that, despite not being a working royal, he’s still benefiting from being part of the royal family, with sources saying William wants Harry to face “financial consequences” for giving up royal life.

“William is livid that Harry continues to profit from the royal family, both now and in the future, despite having walked away and publicly criticized them,” the insider said. “He believes that loyalty and duty must carry weight, otherwise the entire system begins to crumble.”
The source also said, “This has become a definitive boundary for William. He has told those close to him that if limits aren’t set now, they never will be, and he intends to enact some heavy ones when he takes the throne. From William’s perspective, Harry needs to face the financial repercussions of leaving royal duties behind.”
In September 2024, when Prince Harry turned 40, he inherited around $10.3million from a trust fund established by his great-grandmother, the late Queen Mother. He had previously received roughly $12.8million he inherited from his late mother, Princess Diana, something that reportedly has William “furious.”
“He believes Harry has been critical, unhelpful, and damaging to the Royal Family,” a source said, with the sources indicated he is trying to block any more money coming to Harry. “William is certain the only real impact Harry will experience is financial, and he’s determined to make that happen,” a source said.
“While he may struggle to block any inheritance from Diana’s side, he believes he can influence Charles and other family members.”
However, the sources indicate William’s real problem is with his brother’s wife, Meghan Markle. “He believes any money Harry receives will go directly to her, and that deeply concerns him. She already calls the financial shots in their household, and he sees no reason that would change with larger sums involved. He doesn’t want royal funds supporting her extravagant ambitions and lifestyle.”
Markle’s net worth might not be as large as Prince Harry’s, but she has made enough money to support her lifestyle on her own. But William is reportedly worried about the possibility of the two breaking up. “William is concerned about the financial implications if Harry’s marriage were to end,” a senior aide said.
There are no indications that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s marriage is having trouble, with the two regularly making appearances together and speaking fondly of each other.
“He wants to impose controls now so Meghan does not end up claiming royal money from his brother. He has no time for Harry, but he does not want to see her profit from royal funds Harry has received.”
So, that reconciliation is probably off at this point, right?
