Future has returned to Instagram, and some are speculating that it may be because new music is on the way.

The Atlanta rapper and producer has been quiet on social media for a while, and has been off Instagram entirely for the past four months following cryptocurrency hackers taking over his page – as well as accounts from Michael Jackson, Adele and more – last year.

It has also been a while since he dropped any new music, with 2025 proving particularly quiet compared to his busy period in 2024, where he dropped an impressive three new albums (via HotNewHipHop).

Now, he has finally got his Instagram account up and running again after a four month hiatus, and while nothing has been confirmed yet, some fans are thinking it may be to start dropping teasers for new material.

As aforementioned, there have been no official posts shared to indicate new music is on the way. That being said, there has been a trend over the past couple of years, which sees artists wipe their social media pages clean and start posting afresh to indicate the end of their past era and the beginning of a new musical chapter.

The indications that there could be more music on the horizon also comes as Future took to X/Twitter at the end of the year, telling followers that while 2025 wasn’t his favourite, he knows that there is “more success on the way”.

Huge releases from Future in 2025 included singles like ‘WE DON’T TRUST YOU’ and ‘All To Myself’, as well as the global hit collaboration ‘Like That’ with Kendrick Lamar. The latter not only became a favourite among fans, but was also integral in accelerating the feud between K.Dot and Drake.

The last of Future’s 2024 releases was the stripped-back ‘MIXTAPE PLUTO’, which did not feature any collaborations.

“DROP THE ALBUM GOAT,” wrote one fan, while another chimed in: “Future dropping”. Check out more reactions below.

While the artist didn’t share any new music in 2025, he did take to the stage for an unforgettable set at Open’er Festival. In a round-up, NME’s Kyann-Sian Williams said that the set proved that he had “mastered the art of the mosh pit”.

“Future was nearly an hour late at Open’er and killed all anticipation – especially when every other set here has been so prompt,” it read. “But, rocking his new bleach blond ‘fro and simple (yet probably expensive) tee and shorts, he swiftly apologised by being a chaos merchant, flipping the crowd’s disappointment into pure wildness with his classic trap war-cries.

“The mosh pit is his kingdom – a sweaty, chaotic space where controlled chaos reigns supreme and only he knows how to command it.”

As well as Future, other artists expected to release new music in 2026 include A$AP Rocky, Ari Lennox, Poppy and many more, and NME has created a list of the most highly anticipated released of the year – which you can check out here.
