Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin post-apocalyptic saga continues in the trailer for Greenland 2: Migration.
The first footage of the sequel to the 2020 disaster movie Greenland debuted on Thursday, Sept. 25, showing Butler, 55, and Baccarin, 46, back as John and Allison Garrity.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the new installment follows the Garrity family as they emerge from the Greenland bunker after a comet crashed into Earth, now forced to “traverse a shattered world in search of a new home,” according to a synopsis.
In August 2025, Baccarin told Collider that she considers Greenland 2 the “hardest shoot of my life,” explaining, “Not the easiest, not the most fun. A really difficult experience. We were outside a lot. We shot in London and we shot in Iceland. It was physically draining, emotionally draining.”

She added that the continuation “has really wonderful things going for it, the story of this family that really is trying to survive, and I think that that really works, and I think that’s why it got a sequel.”
“I am very curious to see it myself,” added the Deadpool actress at the time, “because I feel like it was a blur of exhaustion and running and crying, and much like the first, really.”
Producer Sébastien Raybaud told Deadline in October 2024 that the team was already exploring a potential third Greenland movie. “We’re thinking about what could happen afterwards,” he said at the time, teasing, “There’s something that happens in 2 that could be tricky, but I’m sure we can find a way.”
Greenland 2: Migration is in theaters Jan. 9.
