Ghoulcy Goes Hard in New FALLOUT Season 2 Trailer

Listen, do I ship Ghoulcy myself? I would say the jury is out. But, all told, am I always here to support a chaotic fan-favorite ship that is queer in its own way and has the ardent, earnest love of many? ALWAYS. So, I feel it’s my solemn duty to proclaim that the new Fallout season two trailer goes hard for Ghoulcy. Between the tense, close encounters, the proclamations of potential friendship, and the vulnerable confessions of heart—I would dare say that this Fallout season two trailer even knows exactly what it’s doing. Will Ghoulcy become canon? I would say, actually, the jury is out. But will these two clearly be some kind of soulmate, “I know I’m who I am today because I met you,” types. It sure does feel like it. Come and get it Ghoulcy fans, you can watch the Fallout season two trailer and enjoy all its Ghoul and Lucy-implications below.

Okay, okay, okay. Let’s take a step back. What even is Ghoulcy? Why, it’s the name for the (hoped for) romantic relationship between Ella Purnell’s Lucy and Walton Goggins’ The Ghoul on Prime Video’s Fallout. Their ship (relationship, get it?) name, if you will.

Okay, let’s take a look at the Ghoulcy of it all in this Fallout season two trailer. First, the tense stand-off :35 seconds in. We’ve seen shots of it before, but now we REALLY see it—and from a few different angles, too. And yeah, we’d define Lucy and the Ghoul as “close” and “tense” in this opening volley. Hey, we’re not mad at it. The scene blends into what we’ll likely see a lot of in Fallout season two, Lucy and the Ghoul walking side by side and talking. With Lucy spouting some earnest, idealistic visions of what the world could be like, and the Ghoul sneering and shaking his head. (But opening to it in his heart.)

Then, of course, there’s the Ghoul’s own version of vulnerability in Fallout season two’s trailer, as he reveals to us, “I’ve wastelanded for 200 years. I’ve kept myself alive for one reason… to find my family.” We don’t know if he’s offering insight into this deep part of himself to Lucy, but the montage of the voiceover is certainly interspersed with her looking at him with wide, sad eyes. So that feels implicative. This scene will be sure to please the Ghoulcy shippers if it indeed plays out in this fashion in Fallout season two.

As we move deeper into the trailer, there’s a glimpse of a profoundly emotional Lucy saying, “We’re actually beginning to get along” as a smile crosses her face. I mean, who but the Ghoul could she be speaking to? We’re excited for this emotional arc between Ghoulcy, romantic or not.

And, of course, the whole Fallout season two trailer closes on a shot of Lucy and the Ghoul as they stare a bit dumbfounded at New Vegas. It feels like Ghoulcy did not have an easy time getting there. But hey, not even the shock of whatever they’ve been through can stop the banter between them. (Full chatter on Lucy’s part, all in the facial expression for the Ghoul.) We can’t help but love this odd couple.

Fallout season two releases on December 17—we can only hope it brings us more Ghoulcy.
