Robin Roberts is getting back into sports—but not in the way fans would expect.
Before becoming a news anchor on Good Morning America, Robin was a sports analyst at ESPN from 1990 to 2005. While her career has expanded to way more than just delivering the news, Robin is returning to her roots with a new series from her production company, Rock’n Robin.
In a Facebook post on June 15, Robin shared she will executive produce a four-part docuseries called Setting the Tempo for ESPN. The show will follow the Canadian women’s basketball team, the Toronto Tempo, as they embark on their first season in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
“I’m excited to share our new ESPN original series from my production company Rock’n Robin Productions called ‘Setting the Tempo,’” she posted in the caption. “[It’s] all about the making of Canada’s first WNBA franchise, the #TorontoTempo.”
When fans saw the post, they were excited to see what was in store.
“Congratulations to you Robin and your incredible team ❤️❤️❤️,” one person applauded in the comments. “Ooooo can’t wait!!” another agreed. “I am really excited to watch this. I loved Breaking Glass. It was so well done!!!” a different follower added, mentioning Robin’s previous docuseries, Breaking Glass: The Pat Summitt Story.
The Toronto Tempo became a part of the WNBA in May 2026. The team, led by head coach Sandy Brondello and general manager Monica Wright Rogers, is the first WNBA team outside of the U.S. and the first to play in Canada.
Robin shared in an official statement with USA Today about the new show.
“As someone who has loved women’s basketball and had the privilege of being part of the WNBA’s story since the very beginning, this project feels incredibly special,” she said. “The launch of the Toronto Tempo represents a defining moment for the league and for women’s sports in Canada. This series captures the passion, pressure and purpose behind building a franchise from the ground up, while shining a light on the women leading the way and shaping the future of the game.”
