While out on a bike ride near a ranch at the end of September, TikToker @depreston5 noticed a zebra running around and decided to stop and record it for his wife to see. What happens next was totally unexpected, and even he couldn’t believe his luck!
This zebra wasn’t just enjoying some time in the meadow; he was plotting an escape! First, he makes a run for the 7-foot fence and somehow flips right over it in the clumsiest front flip you’ll ever see. When he attempted to clear the second fence, he wasn’t so lucky!
The poor zebra’s attempt to escape was thwarted, and he was stuck in the meadow, no better off than he was before his flip. Preston said in the video’s caption, “I was just trying to take a majestic video of this zebra and this happened. I couldn’t believe it.”

Viewers Thought the Zebra Hopping the Fence Was AI-generated
It will come as no surprise that Preston’s video went viral and now has more than 8 million views, 1.2 million likes, and 7,000 comments. People had a lot to say about the flipping zebra!
@aubreyjo316 got more than 200,000 likes when she pointed out, “That first flip looked like he had practiced it before LOL!” @Khoa added, “That spin to landing was CLEAN fr though…”
Commenter @Jenna Marie Davis got 75,000 likes when she shared, “This. We’ve finally found it. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL EXPERIENCE!” @Chrissy added, “Sounds like you’re narrating his thoughts LOL!”
@crennl shared, “That zebra has clearly broken out before because that was as smooth as h*ll flip and they tried it on the other side ha ha!” @Memphis_jay agreed, “‘Oh no! Oh my god, what do I do?!’ is exactly what the zebra was thinking too!”
Commenter @gemstone212991 pointed out, “And to think NO ONE would have believed you if you hadn’t have caught this on video!”, while others shouted that it was AI-generated. So Preston ended up recording another video with more details of what happened when he watched the zebra flip.
He confirms that the video is not AI and explains that he contacted friends at the ranch, who shared that this is not the zebra’s first escape attempt. Sounds like they need to get a taller fence!
