Hailey Bieber loves a good pair of denim. More often than not, you’ll probably see her rocking a pair of relaxed, low-slung jeans (with a simple tee for good measure). She’s a jeans girl through and through, and even cites Gap’s Low-Rise ’90s Loose Jeans as one of her favorites. So when it came time for Gap to team up with another celebrity for a capsule collection, the choice seemed clear. Now, a Bieber x Gap collaboration is here.
Dubbed the Hailey Jean, Bieber’s limited-edition capsule collection features two low-rise options: the Extra Baggy and the Low-Rise Loose, both inspired by denim styles from 1996, the year Bieber was born. Each pair retails for $89 and comes in three distinct washes: light indigo, medium indigo and midnight indigo. Celebrating the collection on Instagram, Bieber shared photos of herself wearing the jeans, soundtracked to a ’90s-era staple: “Linger” by the Cranberries.
“I got super involved,” Bieber told Vogue of bringing this collection to life. “From the shoot and video to the storytelling and designing, I’m not at the point in my life where I want to just lend my name to something, if it’s going to be a real collaboration.”
Bieber’s personal style can best be described as simple yet chic. She has her staple pieces and silhouettes, and she seldom deviates from what works for her. A good pair of jeans is no exception.
“I always come back to a place of less is more, and just wanting to be comfortable,” Bieber told Vogue. “I’m not afraid to try something new because I feel like when you take a chance, sometimes that’s how you create really cool moments with your style.”
The capsule collection, which became available for purchase on Gap’s website on Thursday, sold out within minutes. On platforms like eBay, jeans from the collaboration are already being listed for hundreds of dollars.
“I’m checking out, I keep getting an error message and it’s like, ‘One or more items in your cart are out of stock,'” a creator named Michelle White said on TikTok. “Congratulations if you are one of the people who was actually able to check out in time.”
The fans lucky enough to get their hands on the Hailey Jean — and pay retail price for it — have shared their excitement on TikTok. While online orders were popping off, other hopeful buyers flocked to their local Gap stores to shop the collection IRL. At the Gap store in New York City’s Times Square, some shoppers said they waited about an hour just to enter the store.
“Happy Hailey Jean Day,” said a TikTok user named Raquel Hutt, who tried on the jeans at the Times Square store. “I have every size, every style, every color. Let’s try them on.” Hutt said retail associates recommended sizing down because the jeans have a naturally baggier fit.
Melody Miles, a San Diego-based creator, lucked out at her local Gap store. Miles chose to size up to emulate Bieber’s slouchy off-duty model look.
“10 out of 10. I’m going to get every color,” Miles said on TikTok.
Dezdyani, a content creator based in Austin, also tried on the Hailey Jean in person. Rather than size up or down, Dezdyani went with her normal size.
“Literally, they fit like a glove,” she said. “As a tall girl, I super appreciate these jeans. They fit absolutely incredible. I would say they’re more midrise than lowrise, but you know, I’m OK with that.”
Fans hoping to score a pair of Bieber’s coveted Gap jeans should act fast: Most sizes and washes in both the Extra Baggy and the Low-Rise Loose styles have already sold out. Thankfully, a restock is on the way: Both styles will be available again on Gap’s website on July 18 at 7 a.m. ET.
