A week ago, reports about Henry Cavill’s injury and the resulting delay in Highlander began circulating online. Not long after, Cavill confirmed fans’ fears on his Instagram account.
The 42-year-old actor shared a photo of his bandaged foot and ankle resting on a pillow, with some visible bruises and cuts on his shin. The carousel also included a selfie of Cavill enjoying some well-deserved quality time with his pupper friend, Baggins.
He captioned the photos with William Ernest Henley’s 1888 poem Invictus. The poem shares significant parallels with Cavill’s current situation, as the poet wrote it while recovering from leg surgery following the amputation of his leg due to tubercular arthritis complications. The actor wants to assure his fans he is not giving up anytime soon on his project and will head back to the sets once he recovers.
Cavill has sustained serious injuries while training for the movie’s extensive sword sequences. Interestingly, this is not the first time the actor has been injured on set. A few years ago, while filming for Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2, Cavill tore his hamstrings.
As for an update on the Highlander reboot, due to Cavill’s injury, it appears that production will be pushed to early 2026 (via Deadline). For now, what matters most is hoping Cavill returns healthy and fit.
