Hilaria Baldwin Says She and Stepdaughter Ireland Swap Parenting Advice Since Their Kids Are the Same Age (Exclusive)

When Hilaria Baldwin has a parenting question her husband Alec Baldwin can’t answer, she can just call up her stepdaughter, Ireland Baldwin!

The mom of seven, 41, will appear in a Tuesday, Oct. 7 episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast and speaks about leaning on her 29-year-old stepdaughter for parenting advice. In a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of the podcast, Hilaria explains that she often learns things from Ireland, who welcomed her baby daughter Holland in May 2023.

“Listen, I call her for advice. That was like the really interesting thing,” Hilaria began. “I don’t know how you were when your first was born, but I was like, really…didn’t know what I was doing. And I knew that I didn’t know what I was doing, so I was really insecure.”

She recalled a time when she gave her oldest daughter Carmen, now 12, a bath for the first time. After she accidentally got a drop of water in her daughter’s mouth, Hilaria freaked out and thought she had done something terribly wrong.

“I run with this naked baby out to go get an elevator and I’m like hysterically crying. Like, my baby is not okay,” she remembered. “And then I came out of my panic and I look at her and she’s just looking at me like all is well.”

“But that’s the kind of new mom I was. Whereas Ireland was like, ‘Boom, boom, I got this.’ She’s just so confident. And her instincts are so good, where I had to learn to trust myself a little bit,” explained Hilaria.

“In so many ways, I’m like leaning to her like, ‘What do you think about this?’ Especially because we have kids the same age. So I learn from her, I like to think that she learns a little bit from me. And when we talk, we’ll talk for like. I’ll look at the time and it’s been like two hours.”

Ireland’s daughter Holland, 2, is the same age as HIlaria’s daughter Ilaria, 2. Alongside Ilaria, Hilaria and Alec, who tied the knot in 2012, share daughters María, 4, and Carmen, 12, as well as four sons, Eduardo, 5, Romeo, 7, Leonardo, 9, and Rafael, 10. Alec shares Ireland with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

This past May, Hilaria appeared on an episode of Today with Jenna and Friends and spoke with host Jenna Bush Hager and guest co-host Matt Rogers about her new memoir, her marriage and more.

During the conversation, Hilaria opened up about whether she wants to have more children and what it feels like to become a step-grandma. Hilaria also revealed what Holland calls her.

“I’m a grandma,” she said before Bush Hager asked her what the little one calls her. “Abuelita,” Hilaria revealed with a smile.
