How New Heights Addressed Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement

Travis Kelce‘s engagement to Taylor Swift was the first piece of “new news” addressed on the latest episode of his podcast.

When “New Heights” returned on Wednesday, August 27, cohost Jason Kelce gave a quick mention of the couple’s milestone. “There is one gigantic piece of new news that just hit the waves,” he said. “We did record this podcast on Monday, which is Travis’ one day off. So he is not here to address this himself, but we felt it necessary as a team here at ‘New Heights’ to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged. The proposal heard ‘round the world. F*** yeah!”

Later on, while discussing Swift’s new music, Jason joked that he “can’t keep a secret to save [his] life” because he gets too “excited.”

Travis and Swift, both 35, announced their engagement via Instagram on Tuesday, August 26, alongside pics from a romantic photo shoot. The slideshow included a close look at the pop star’s stunning Old Mine brilliant cut engagement ring.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the caption read.

The couple’s romance began thanks to Travis giving Swift a shout-out on the podcast in summer 2023. The official “New Heights” social media feeds wasted no time celebrating the pair’s milestone.

“How it started ➡️ How it’s going,” read an Instagram caption alongside clips from the show. “CONGRATS TO TRAV AND TAYLOR ❤️‍🔥💍.”

A second post featured one of Travis and Swift’s engagement photos with a pic of Jason, 37, from his shirtless celebrations at a Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills game added in the background.

“This pretty much sums up everyone’s reaction 😅 @jason.kelce,” the caption teased.

Weeks prior, Swift nearly broke the internet (once again) when she made her “New Heights” debut to officially announce her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl. Sitting beside her now-fiancé, Swift opened up about the early days of their romance.

While no engagement secrets were spilled on Wednesday, Travis and Jason did recap their favorite moments from Swift’s podcast appearance.

“I don’t think it could have gone any better because of how open and incredible Taylor was,” Jason said. “That’s the biggest thing that I saw of the reactions of everybody out there … was this is the first time they’ve seen Tay unload for that long a period of time and that authentic and transparent of a way.”

Travis agreed, adding that he had “fun” seeing how fans reacted to hearing the beginning of his and Taylor’s love story. “I know Tay walked away absolutely ecstatic and excited and happy that she came on here and had her first podcast experience with me and you, man,” he said.

During the August 13 episode, the Grammy winner recalled asking Travis on their first date what it was like to play against his brother in the 2023 Super Bowl, not realizing that the siblings weren’t ever actually on the field together during a game.

“He didn’t even look at me. I know now what an insane question that was,” Swift said. “I thought everyone was on the field at the same time.”

While she’s come a long way in her football knowledge since then, she admitted she’s still not perfect. “I’m not ready to be an analyst right now, but give me 16 months,” she joked.

Travis, meanwhile, remembered being hypnotized by Swift the first time he saw her on tour. “If I hadn’t been so mesmerized, and just been captivated, and then left with such a desire to meet you, I would have never went on here and told everybody how butthurt I was,” he explained. “I had never just been so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.”

Swift thanked Travis for his “wonderful” words as he continued, “You see you on the stage and how crazy you can get an entire stadium going, but then I get you in a room and it’s like I’ve known you forever. It was just the easiest conversation I ever had. And it was so much fun it just knocked my socks off. I had never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage and then so real and so beautiful in person.”
