Forget rehearsals. “I booked ‘Match’ on Wednesday, and then I was shooting in South Africa four days later,” Gonzalez admitted. “I didn’t even audition. I read the script once and couldn’t put it down. It was twisted and fun.”
But one decision catapulted her right into one of the craziest stretches of her career. “There was no table read, no warm-up, just fake blood, real screams, and none of us were chill,” she said. “My first day on set was the part in the film where Paola barfs and tries to kill Henry.”
Playing Paola: The Perfectly Imperfect Heroine
When her fans pointed out that Paola was ignoring all the red flags possible, Gonzalez was in complete agreement. “She’s just so flawed. She’s ignoring red flags, pushing boundaries, and not trusting her gut. But that’s the thing, she’s relatable, and she’s human.”
However, audience members were also scream-crying at their televisions. “She could have saved her sister instead of worrying about some boy she just met,” Wayne said jokingly, and Humberly chuckled in agreement. “Right? But it’s her storyline, how do you overcome such human habits even when faced with dire circumstances?”
The “WTF” Moments That Traumatized Everyone
There was no shortage of jaw-droppers in “Match.” “The bathroom scene, the roaches, the eyes in the elevator, people were hiding behind blankets,” Humberly giggled. “They just keep ramping up. They’re not doing ghosts, they’re not doing demons. They’re doing straight-up chaos.” “What the hell?!” scenes were her own favorites, ordered up in her own personal “greatest hits” album.
“She’ll tell me, ‘Oh, I love watching their reactions as if it’s part of the experience.’ And you recommend it just to see them scream. ‘It’s a shared trauma experience.’”
On Online Dating: ‘Please Don’t Go to Their House!’
One of the themes was just a little too close to home. “It’s definitely a very extreme way of saying, be careful,” explained Humberly. “Don’t show up at someone’s house. Don’t take drinks from strangers. And a five-minute FaceTime call does not mean they’re real. Especially with AI, please.”
Fans knew her message got across. “Everyone tells me they deleted their dating apps after watching ‘Match,’ ”she laughed. “Mission accomplished!”
Horror Royalty and Indie Glory
Even with all the blood and the screams, González said playing “Match” might be one of her favorite experiences, “right up there with Star Trek and Star Wars.” “It’s just neat to be in something if people talk about it,” she said, hoping “Match” might be one of the movies that crosses over into cult fame.
And yes, she is rooting for indie cinema. “You don’t need 200 million dollars to tell a great story,” she said. “Independent films take risks. You have the freedom. You get to play. That’s real cinema,”
From “Ginny & Georgia” to Spin-Off Dreams
Changing gears, Wayne was also asking when Season 4 of Ginny & Georgia will come out. Humberly remained silent but teased “exciting new characters” and “big cliffhangers.”
Fans asking for a ‘Sophie & Max’ spin-off? Humberly hears you. “I think they’ll always have love for each other,” she smiled. “Even if they never officially get back together, they’ll always be endgame in my heart.”
“All of my scenes with Sophie made the cut, which is very rare in television,” she revealed. “Everything I shot is in there. That never happens!”
Dream Roles, White Lotus, & Superhero Dreams
“After years of continuous shootings, I am actually taking a break, but don’t get me wrong, I’m not slowing down,” stated González. “I have been acting professionally for ten years without stopping. And right now, I am training and intending to play an action role, superhero, military, anything physical.”
What does her dream project look like? “It’s to bring together an ensemble of Latino and Venezuelan actors in an action movie, Spanglish meets Marvel,” she explained. “I want to wear the supersuit!”
Where would she love to guest star someday? “White Lotus, obviously,” she laughed. “They haven’t done a Spanish-speaking country yet. Let’s fix that.”
Fan Favorites and Hidden Talents
When asked what she might be doing if she were not an actress, Humberly’s face lit up. “I would be teaching yoga or scuba diving in Costa Rica. I am just passionate about wellness, scuba diving, and living in close proximity to the ocean.”
Celebrity crushes when she was growing up? “Jesse McCartney and Vanessa Hudgens,” she revealed. “And Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance. Totally emo.
Hidden Talent? “I can walk a slack line, and I can open any bottle with a lighter,” she bragged. “That’s party trick or survival skill, depending on the night.”
