It started with a social media post that took off. And now, the subject in focus has had to step in to clarify a certain life update.
No, Danny Trejo has not died.
The longtime action-movie star, 81, confirmed on Instagram that a certain report that sent the internet ablaze this weekend is false.
“Thank you all for your concern but I am very much alive,” his post on Sunday, September 7 reads. “Someone is spreading fake news.”
As expected, many fans commented on the Spy Kids star’s social media post.
“THANK GOD BRO❗️we love you homie 💯💪🏾🙏🏾❤️,” one Instagram user commented, while someone else wrote, “We love you, Danny Trejo! ❤️.”
Trejo’s rep also confirmed to TMZ that it’s all just a hoax, despite the fact that John Leguizamo — who starred with Trejo in The Infiltrator — even shared the false report on Instagram over the weekend, the outlet noted.
Earlier this summer, Trejo paid tribute to a fellow celebrity who actually did pass away: Ozzy Osbourne.
“Today we lost one of the wildest souls to ever walk this Earth,” Trejo wrote in an Instagram post that includes a photo of the two goofing off together while Osbourne pretended to choke him. “Ozzy wasn’t just The Prince of Darkness, he was pure light to those of us lucky enough to meet him. A heart bigger than any stage he ever rocked.”
Trejo added in his July 22 post that his heart was with Osbourne’s wife Sharon Osbourne and their kids. “Love you forever,” he concluded with a white dove and guitar emoji. “Save me a seat backstage up there, carnál.”
The photo was taken backstage at Ozzfest in December 2018, and it wasn’t the only time the dynamic duo was spotted spending time together. In September 2013, they were both honored at the Universal Studios Eyegore Awards, which kicked off Halloween Horror Nights, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
