IMPEL has added six new members to its membership.

IMPEL is the international collective licensing agency representing digital music publishing rights. It is 100% owned and controlled by its members, which include Bucks Music Group, Beggars Music, Reservoir Music, Kassner Music, CTM, ABKCO, Truelove Music, Faber Music, Mute Song, Budde UK, TRO Essex, Phrased Differently, Warp Music and many more.

The latest additions to the collective are First Original Music, Stone Rolla Songs, The Royalty Network, Out Of The Ark Music, Lyst Music Publishing and CTRL Music.

Operating out of both Yorkshire and London, First Original Music is a music rights company with a focus on publishing and sync.

First Original Music director Phil Simpson said: “We’re so pleased to have partnered with IMPEL for the next stage of our journey. Though it’s early days, we know instinctively how strong a move this will prove to be for us!”

Stone Rolla Songs is an independent music publishing company based in London and Los Angeles. The company’s roster includes Swim School, who recently completed a month-long  European tour supporting Suede, marking a major.

The Royalty Network is an independent music publishing company based in New York. For more than three decades, the company has represented multi-platinum catalogues and enduring works from artists including Bill Withers, Shaggy, Otis Redding, Ed Sheeran, Shakira, Bad Bunny, and many others.

The company has expanded its scope through notable catalogue acquisitions, most prominently the Norman Feels catalogue, and co-purchases of tracks such as Ante Up, Say Aah and You Don’t Know My Name.

Frank Liwall, The Royalty Network CEO, said: “We’re proud to be joining IMPEL, where we can take a hands-on approach to protecting the interests of our songwriters and provide them with a faster return on their royalties through a broad, transparent platform that supports licensing and collections across the majority of the world.”

Out Of The Ark Music is a leading independent music publisher specialising in songs for primary education. Founded in 1989 by Mark and Helen Johnson, Out Of The Ark has built a catalogue of songs used by schools in the UK and beyond.

The publisher represents a diverse community of writers, including Mark, Helen and Naomi Johnson, Antony Copus, Mary Green and Julie Stanley, and Rebecca Kincaid and Gaynor Boddy.

Sadie Cook, Out Of The Ark Music publishing director, said: “Joining IMPEL is an important step for us as our songs continue to reach new audiences through digital platforms. We’re proud of the catalogue and writers we represent, and delighted to be working with IMPEL to support and produce our music in the digital space.”

Lyst Music Publishing is an independent, woman-led publisher based in London with a  presence in Athens, working across heavy, alternative and underground scenes  including metal, rock and punk.

The roster includes 1000mods, Cancer Bats and Rotting Christ, with recent sync placements including a European Ford campaign and KFC Canada.

Lyst Music Publishing founder Mando Chatouski said: “We’re very pleased to be joining IMPEL. It’s still early days, but what stood out immediately is how responsive and accessible the team is – real people you can speak with directly, which reflects the kind of hands-on approach we value  ourselves.

“IMPEL plays an important role as a collective voice for independent publishers globally, and that’s something we strongly believe in. We’re excited to be part of the network and to contribute to strengthening representation for independent publishers and the writers we support.”

Founded in South Africa, CTRL Music is a publishing and neighbouring rights administration platform built for independent songwriters, composers, and music publishers worldwide.

CTRL’s catalog spans contemporary African music genres including Amapiano, Afrobeats, and Gospel, with artists generating streams and airplay across Africa, Europe, and North America.

Prince Kubheka, co-founder and director of licensing & partnerships, CTRL Music said: “Joining IMPEL is a milestone for CTRL Music. We’re building infrastructure that ensures independent artists and publishers across Africa and beyond collect every royalty they’re owed globally, and being part of IMPEL’s network gives us the reach and credibility to do that at a level we couldn’t achieve alone. This is exactly the kind of partnership that moves the needle for our rights holders.”

IMPEL CEO Sarah Williams said: “We’re so pleased to be able to welcome a group of independent music publishers that add to the breadth and depth of the IMPEL collective as a whole. I think it shows that IMPEL is the natural home for all parts of the independent ecosystem.

“We look forward to working with the entrepreneurs at the helm of each company to ensure they can provide the best for their clients, while at the same time using their individual talent and expertise to benefit our independent community.”
