INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Day 29 of the federal government shutdown, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra offered free tickets to help federal employees dealing with the congressional inaction to enact a budget.
It’s part of a larger effort nationally from sports organizations, entertainment venues, and even bars and restaurants to reach out to federal workers facing uncertain futures.
The orchestra said in a news release issued Wednesday that federal employees can receive two complimentary tickets to select performances at the Hilbert Circle Theatre by calling or visiting the box office.
Concerts included are Vivaldi Four Seasons Rediscovered from Thursday-Saturday; Arrival from Sweden: The Music of ABBA on Nov. 7-8; and 50 Years of PASIC and Music for All on Nov. 13. Other dates and details are available online.
In a statement in the release, CEO James Johnson called the effort “a small gesture of support and appreciation for our federal employees” to “provide a moment of connection and inspiration for those impacted.”
Tickets are available while supplies last and must be reserved by phone or in-person. The box office is at the theater on the southeast quadrant of Monument Circle. Its phone is 317-639-4300. The box office is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, although adjustments are made on performance days.
