A release date was just announced for Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ upcoming Indian film Varanasi. The director, S. S. Rajamouli, gained global attention for his movie Rrr, which won Best Original Song for “Naatu Naatu” at the Oscars and Golden Globes in 2023, beating out songs by Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Diane Warren, among others.
Now Rajamouli has a new movie on the horizon called Varanasi, which stars Chopra Jonas, Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The action-adventure film, which is being described as a mix between James Bond and Indiana Jones, will arrive in theaters on April 7, 2027.
