The first film of the trilogy takes over the box office
As anticipated, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle is a huge hit with fans, not only meeting hopeful expectations, but completely slaying them.
With its premiere last Friday, the anime film garnered roughly $70 million during its initial release weekend, towering at #1 in current U.S. box office standings and beating out other new releases such as The Long Walk and The Conjuring: Last Rites. This momentous opening also now holds the record for biggest opening weekend for an anime film, dethroning the classic Pokemon: The First Movie from 1999. The film is projected to reach $100 million during its full theatrical cycle.
