‘Star Wars’ and ‘The Odyssey’ among top movies to see this summer
USA TODAY movie critic Brian Truitt reveals three films you need to watch this summer, including “The Odyssey.”
Clint Eastwood has quietly retired from Hollywood after a prolific career spanning almost seven decades, according to his son, Kyle Eastwood.
“I have many fond memories of working with him,” Kyle, a musician and composer, said in a recently resurfaced video from November 2025 as he performed on stage at the Maison de la Culture in France. “Now he’s retired. He’s 95 years old.”
Kyle, 58, added that he was “very lucky” to have the opportunity to collaborate with his father on “quite a few films.”
“It was a great experience for me,” he said.
Clint Eastwood on retiring
While the actor has not publicly announced his retirement, earlier in November 2018, when the now-late Robert Redford remarked that “The Old Man & the Gun” would likely be his acting swan song, an 88-year-old Eastwood told USA TODAY his interest in acting and directing hasn’t dwindled.
“Maybe I just don’t want a certain volume of work, but, no, it hasn’t lessened. I love what I do,” Eastwood said at the time. “I’ll probably keep on going. I feel good, but it depends on material. I probably wouldn’t do something just because it was marginal – I have to kind of think it has some validity and has some relationship to today.”
Eastwood’s reps did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for more information on June 3.
Eastwood shot to fame in the 1960s as the star of the Italian “Dollars” trilogy of westerns directed by Sergio Leone, which included “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” according to the Academy. Over the years, Eastwood was part of a string of successful films, including but not limited to 1964’s “A Fistful of Dollars,” 1971’s “Dirty Harry,” 1992’s “Unforgiven,” and 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby.”
Eastwood also served as mayor of the California town of Carmel from 1986 until 1988.
How old is Clint Eastwood?

What was Clint Eastwood’s last movie?
Eastwood’s last film as director was the 2004 courtroom drama “Juror #2” starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette. His last acting venture was “Cry Macho” in 2021, in which he played Mike Milo, a “one-time rodeo star and washed-up horse breeder,” according to IMDb.
