Is Hope Afraid of Commitment or Change?

Carter is focused on his future with Hope. However, she has been hesitant about moving forward with him. On the Tuesday, September 30, 2025 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Hope went down a road that she’s been down before… And it’s not because she’s afraid of commitment.

Is Hope a Commitment-Phobe?

Hope (Annika Noelle) played hide and seek with Liam (Scott Clifton) and Beth (Jordyn Lynn Ariza). Beth didn’t want this moment to end. She exclaimed that she had the best mommy and daddy ever.

Then, Hope received a text from Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor). He wanted to discuss wedding plans, but she’s been stalling. Liam wanted to know why they haven’t set a wedding date yet.

Hope wiggled her way out of that by saying that she had to go back to work. Later in the episode, she talked to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang—who made a big change to her hair) about her feelings for Carter. She knows that he loves her and wants her to be happy.

Brooke wanted to know why she was holding out on him. Her mother still thinks she has feelings for Liam. While Hope loves Carter, her heart is confused. Brooke told her that she has to make a decision.

This isn’t the first time Hope has been afraid of commitment. We remember her relationship with Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). She told him that she couldn’t commit because she had just divorced Liam. But what’s the issue this time around?

Back to the Way Things Were?

Hope isn’t afraid of commitment, per se. Rather, she’s afraid of change. She would rather go back to the way things were when she was married to Liam.

She wants the kind of love that they had because it’s familiar and comfortable. Yet, Liam has broken her heart multiple times due to his waffling ways.

But she thought she was going to lose him forever. Seeing her go through that kind of trauma made Liam want to reconnect with her again.

He has it in his head that their family is better together, under one roof. But is that the best reason for a reconciliation? Liam could quickly return to his waffling ways once Hope takes him back and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) returns.
