The Battle Rounds begin on Monday night’s The Voice and as hard as it is to believe, two of Michael Bublé’s four-chair turn artists paired themselves against each other, knowing only one would survive. It’s the new twist for Season 28 wherein the artists decide who to pair up with rather than their coach making the selection.
Taking to The Voice stage for the first night of Season 28 Battles were Jazz McKenzie and Trinity facing off on Jamiroquai‘s “Virtual Insanity.”
“Heaven’s to Murgatroyd. Heaven have mercy,” Snoop Dogg declared when the two women were done. “I used to be on tour with Jamiroquai. Y’all took that man’s song and put some herbs and spices. This is two four-chair turns. Mike, I know you’re not happy about this.”
Reba interjected, “I am.”
“This is what The Voice is built on, great showmanship,” Snoop continued. “Y’all had me up here dancing the freaky. That was entertainment at its finest. They both were so strong, Mike. I do love that. I have a Steal left and I’m just going to leave it at that.”
“Wow whee!” Niall Horan exclaimed. “You two just brought a different league. I just dislocated a hip. I know that’s going to be on the internet later. These two can not leave this competition, and if I’m stealing anyone, I want one of you two. I don’t know who else is going to have you, but Bublé, you’re in big trouble. I don’t care what anybody says.”
Then Reba McEntire told the ladies, “If it was a run competition, you both tied. Jazz, your tone is round, powerful; Trinity, I don’t know how you found all those notes. It was like jazz. I was trying to follow. Incredible. If I had to choose one…”
“…I wouldn’t be able to,” Niall finished for her.

The final decision is Michael’s but first he gave his thoughts.
“Trinity, I loved the jazz thing. You were just improvising. This is just effortless and easy for you. Jazz, you have this wonderful, powerful voice and this is the essence of what this show is about. So, thank you both so much.”
For the winner of the Battle, tune in to The Voice on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
