Jamie Lee Curtis became a grandmother in December, at a moment when grief and new life collided in her family.
Curtis, 67, shared the news during an appearance on “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson,” describing a season when loss and birth unfolded almost side by side.
Her daughter Annie Guest, 39, welcomed a baby boy with her husband, Jason Wolf, in December 2025, just one week after the deaths of Annie’s godparents, filmmaker Rob and Michele Singer Reiner.
The Reiners were found dead in their Hollywood home. The medical examiner’s report revealed that the cause of death was multiple sharp force injuries.
Curtis noted that the Reiners died on Annie’s birthday, giving the arrival of her grandson a weight that felt both devastating and restorative.
“Life on life’s harshest terms and life on life’s most beautiful terms,” she said.
Before revealing the birth publicly, Curtis paused to ask permission, calling Annie to say the topic might come up during her conversation with Obama. The moment, she recalled, turned unexpectedly emotional. “Anne teared up and said, “Tell her I love her.”
“You are so loved and so respected that she would say, ‘Yes, Mom, you can talk about it to Michelle Obama, ‘cause she’s a G,’” Curtis told the former First Lady. “She loves you, because you represented love in the world and you brought love to the White House and beyond. And so it’s really thrilling to me that for the first time I’m going to say to the universe that I became a granny is here with you.”
The actor and her husband, Christopher Guest, are parents of Annie and Ruby, 30. After struggling with infertility, the pair adopted both of their daughters.
Now, decades later, the decision has come full circle in a way Curtis once couldn’t have imagined.
“I never thought I would have children,” Curtis said on the “IMO” podcast. “I never thought in my wildest dreams I would be a grandma. A granny. It has just been an extraordinary connection.”
