The shooter game, released in 2015, centers on the Helldivers, an elite squad of soldiers sent behind enemy lines battling alien creatures to protect Super Earth.
The movie is another collaboration between Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, following 2022′s Uncharted. They also worked on Peacock’s Twisted Metal and HBO’s The Last of Us.
A sequel, Helldivers 2, was released in 2024. It sold over 20 million copies and grossed over $700 million.
