JAŸ-Z is in a “New York California State of Mind.”
The 25-time Grammy winner just announced that he’ll perform a one-off concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of his seminal 1996 debut album “Reasonable Doubt” at Inglewood, CA’s SoFi Stadium on Friday, Oct. 23.
Notable tracks from the record include “Can’t Knock The Hustle” featuring Mary J. Blige, “Brooklyn’s Finest” with Notorious B.I.G.” and “Dead Presidents II” among others.
No word yet on whether or not he’ll play songs from other albums in his deep back catalog.
Prior to this gig, the last time the “99 Problem” rapper performed in The Golden State was December 2017 when he headlined at The Forum as part of his ‘4:44 Tour.’
“He used his new material to re-contextualize his older hits in intriguing ways, giving hip-hop’s most consistent live performer the one thing his shows have sometimes lacked: a sense of surprise,” Variety wrote in a giddy review.
This won’t be the only show HOVA performs this year either.
Prior to the Inglewood show, the 56-year-old New York City native headlined at Philadelphia’s Roots Picnic Festival where he delivered a 32-song set, according to Set List FM.
Highlights from the spot included a combative, a cappella freestyle that took aim at Ye, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Dame Dash, Tory Lanez and more along with fan favorite hits “Run This Town,” “Empire State of Mind,” “Excuse Me Miss,” “The Story of O.J.” and “Public Service Announcement.”
Then, come mid-summer, Mr. Beyoncé Knowles has three concerts lined up at Yankee Stadium from July 10-12.
Show onee will be devoted to “Reasonable Doubt;” the next pays tribute to the 25th anniversary of “The Blueprint” and the third is being billed as “Extra innings” that a press release states “isn’t connected to a specific album, but will build on the momentum’ of the other two shows.”

What has JAŸ-Z been up to?
Earlier this year, Carter was interviewed by GQ. In the expansive chat, he dished on the Kendrick/Drake dispute and addressed the 2024 civil lawsuit charging him with allegedly sexually assaulting a woman decades ago who chose to remain anonymous.
GQ noted that “the accuser voluntarily dismissed the suit with prejudice just months after it was filed.”
About the accusation, JAŸ-Z told GQ “That whole [lawsuit thing], that s— took a lot out of me. I was angry. I haven’t been that angry in a long time, uncontrollable anger. You don’t put that on someone—that’s a thing that you better be super sure. It used to be like that. You had to be super sure before you put those kind of things on a person. Especially a person like me. Even when we were doing the worst things, we had those kind of rules. There was a line: no women, no kids. You hear those sayings, but those are the things that I took from the street. We lived and died by that. So it’s strict for me, like it meant a lot to me.”
He then added “I took that really hard. I knew that we were going to walk through that because, first of all, it’s not true. And the truth, at the end of the day, still reigns supreme.”
