Free speech may be in jeopardy and federal agents are pulling children from their homes, but The Dude continues to abide.
Jeff Bridges brought back his famous “Big Lebowski” character by request on the latest installment of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
The Oscar winner was on the show to promote his upcoming movie “Tron: Ares,” in theaters Friday.
“We are in such a troubled time, I think, is a good way to say it,” Kimmel said on Tuesday night’s show. “People are getting crazier every day and I wonder if you could perhaps summon The Dude to share some words of wisdom tonight.”
Bridges obliged.

With that, Kimmel supplied the requisite sunglasses and cozy cardigan while Kimmel sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez brought the pair White Russian cocktails.
Bridges, who referred to the drink as a “Caucasian,” opted to go without the shades for his message to the audience.
He originated the cherished Dude character in the 1998 Coen brothers movie “The Big Lebowski,” starring as Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski.
“Hey world, The Dude here,” Bridges said (watch clip below). “So, uh, yeah, man. Can we just all calm the f— down? I mean, c’mon. I’m talking about, you know, all the wars, the fighting, the canceling. I mean, let’s just chill out, man. C’mon, tone it down.
“We’re, like, at what? A nine?” he continued. “We ought to be at zero. Or zero and a half at max. Right, Guillermo?”
Rodriguez held his own White Russian up for a toast while wearing the same cardigan and shades.
“ICE??” Bridges’ Dude said. “Let’s get ICE off our streets and into our beverages, man.”
The sentiment about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement drew loud cheers from the crowd as Bridges took a sip of his movie-inspired drink.
“This aggression will not stand,” he said, quoting his character. “Right?”
“Right,” Kimmel said.
“So let’s just abide,” said Bridges, 75. “Abide together. Yes, we can do this. Now, that’s just, like, my opinion, but it’s a good one, don’t you think, Jimmy?”
“That’s a pretty great opinion,” the host said.

Kimmel and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” recently returned to ABC after being “indefinitely” suspended for his comments in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s death.
ABC and parent company Disney permitted his return after several days during which viewers protested the decision by canceling their Disney+ and Hulu subscriptions.
Kimmel returned to late-night following statements from comedians, actors and celebrities who condemned the network’s move against him as an assault on free speech.
