Jelly Roll says a recent post on TikTok was not meant to be cryptic amid his split from Bunnie Xo.
The singer shared a photo of him and his daughter putting up their middle fingers with the caption, “I feel on top of the world.”
He insists “it is not a response to anything” and was posted before news of his split broke.
Jelly Roll is clarifying a cryptic post that’s going viral amid his divorce from Bunnie Xo.
On June 5, the country music star shared a TikTok featuring Latto’s new song “Mama,” which he collaborated on with her. Jelly Roll shared the lyrics, “Can’t believe my life right now I feel on top of the world,” over a photo of him and his daughter, Bailee Ann DeFord, holding up their middle fingers and posing for the camera.
He added a throwback photo of the daddy-daughter duo, sharing further lyrics, “Should’ve seen my face when they told me it’s a baby girl.”
Many followers assumed the post was a dig at his estranged wife of 10 years, Bunnie Xo, after their divorce filing was revealed on Monday. But Jelly Roll (real name Jason DeFord) insisted it was not meant to reference their split in the slightest.
“This wasn’t posted today it’s just going viral today, it is not a response to anything,” he wrote in a comment on the TikTok post on Wednesday. “All this post meant was I love my daughter and I’m honored to be on Latto’s song. Love y’all.”
Per documents obtained and reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, Jelly Roll, 41, filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo, 46, on May 18 in Williamson County, Tenn., citing “irreconcilable differences.” He listed their separation date as May 9.
The docs also stated that Jelly Roll claimed the “parties are unable to live together successfully as husband and wife.”

Amid the news of the “I’m Good” singer and podcast host’s divorce, Bunnie Xo shared a picture of herself in pink lingerie on her Instagram Stories. She paired the image with a cryptic caption: “She’s getting her sparkle back.”
Bunnie Xo, who was born Alisa Andrea Carter, also posted a TikTok of herself lip-synching to the 2001 Nickelback song “How You Remind Me.” Lead singer Chad Kroeger reportedly wrote the song about a tumultuous relationship he had with an ex-girlfriend.
“It’s not like you didn’t know that / I said, ‘I love you,’ and I swear I still do / And it must have been so bad / ‘Cause livin’ with me must have damn near killed you,” she lip-synced in the clip, captioned “Banger.”
Jelly Roll has kept a low profile on social media since the divorce news, posting a video meeting a young fan at his concert on Wednesday. His 18-year-old daughter, however, shared her take on the public’s reaction, writing in a TikTok on Tuesday: “I am disgusted at how invested everyone is in a very clearly private family matter. It’s fkn crazy. Go on somewhere yall. Worry ‘bout your house — not mine. I’m not speaking on it — yet.”
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo seemed to be in a good place before their split, renewing their vows in August 2023 at the same Las Vegas chapel where they originally tied the knot. The couple met in 2015 at one of Jelly Roll’s concerts and got married the following year.
They appeared in public together in early 2026 — including at the Grammy Awards and on Bunnie Xo’s Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic book tour in February. The podcaster details her relationship and marriage with the country singer in the memoir, which was officially released on Feb. 17.

“I was—dare I say—mesmerized?” she writes of their first meeting. “This man was not my type. But shaking his hand felt like every star in the sky collided. My soul recognized his. It was as if I’d been looking for him my entire life.”
Bunnie Xo adds, “I was never a sucker for a Southern drawl until that night. I do remember thinking to myself, ‘This boy is going to be a star one day.'”
