Country sensation Jelly Roll gave fans something to think about at his recent concert.
Ahead of the new year, Jelly Roll, real name Jason DeFord, performed an intimate show at Nova’s Red Room in Australia. Following the show, a video of the singer’s heartfelt and relatable message to the audience was posted on Instagram.
In the footage,Jelly Roll let those in attendance know that it is okay not to be okay. He also expressed that what he was singing was just as much for him as the audience, for a very good reason.
“Today I realized that I’m singing it for both of us, because this is the first day I woke up a little not okay,” he expressed. Jelly Roll went on to become more emotional after a fan yelled out in support, “We love you, Jelly.”
The singer declared, “Oh God you are going to make me cry. I said I wasn’t gonna cry in Australia. But I love you all, and it made me realize that the message of music is so, so powerful. That the way music has this unique ability to meet us exactly where we are in that moment of our life, right then that those three minutes can help us right when we needed it the absolute most.”
The words of wisdom touched fans, with the comment section filled with responses to Jelly Roll’s message.
“You are amazing .. thanks for being you 💙,” shared a fan, as another declared, “Jelly is one hell of an amazing man. Not just singer and performance wise but amazing heartfelt man.”
