Jenna Bush Hager is spilling all the details on her big screen debut.
The Today host was among the many celebrity cameos in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which hit theaters on May 1. While reflecting on her busy few weeks of high-profile interviews on Today via Instagram, Bush Hager shared new behind-the-scenes photos from filming the sequel.
“Remember that feeling of sweaty palms and butterfly-inducing nerves? The feeling before starting a new school, walking into a job interview, or trying something that scares you just a little bit?!” she captioned the Tuesday, May 19, upload. “These past few months, I’ve found myself craving that nauseating, yet addictive, feeling of trying something new (including interviewing Her Majesty Queen Camilla, sitting down with four former presidents, and speaking with the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2!!!!).”
She continued, “I wrote all about that feeling on my Substack – the feeling of uncomfortableness for just a moment before falling in love with the pride that comes from trying something new, and how important it is to keep seeking out those moments no matter how old we get.”
The post’s first slide featured a group photo from her day on the film set. She and celebrities such as Jon Batiste, Ronny Chieng, and Karl-Anthony Towns smiled for the camera alongside stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Kenneth Branagh.
In the film, Bush Hager is one of several media personalities that Streep’s Miranda Priestly invites to a weekend in the Hamptons as she and Andy (Hathaway) work to rebuild Runway magazine’s image.
In another slide, Bush Hager posted a collage of photos she took on set with author Tomi Adeyemi and journalist Molly Jong-Fast. The post’s third slide featured a photo from her recent Today interview with the film’s cast, including Streep, Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
Bush Hager opened up about the experience in a Tuesday post on her Substack, Voices at the Table. “I got the interview [with the cast] because the summer before, I was an extra (blink and you’ll miss me!) in the film,” she shared. “On that July day, the sun beat down on me, exasperating my nervous sweat.”
She added, “As soon as I arrived, the LOVELY director David Frankel made an announcement: ‘Meryl, Anne and Jenna..’ Jenna?? I am not an actor. I was out of place. It lasted ten minutes but we improvised a scene. It was scary and it was fun. Another moment of wild out-of-body bravery.”
Bush Hager went on to note that she’s “not so delusional to know that these kinds of things don’t happen to most people,” adding, “But this is simply a case for trying something new.”
Bush Hager’s interview with the cast of The Devil Wears Prada 2 was just one of Bush Hager’s high-profile interviews that aired on Today last month.
