In her quest for answers, the actress, 54, did a SPECT scan of her brain and discovered a head injury may have contributed to her experiencing memory loss and anxiety.
“I thought about it and there were two times that I could recall as major head-related accidents: the time Luke ran me over with a jet ski in the Pacific Ocean while filming a scene together, and the time a huge tripod-mounted light fell directly on my head and knocked me over on the set of 90210. Accidents happen on sets; there wasn’t any wrongdoing. But still, maybe they’d had some effect on me,” she writes in the book.
Garth has previously shared the jet ski story, speaking on the memory at 90s Con in Hartford, Conn., in March 2025.

“We were in the ocean filming and then they took the jet skis. They said, ‘Get on these and go into the shore for lunch,’ right? So, we got on the back of the jet skis and that’s when we had the bodyguards. And the bodyguards were each driving a jet ski, but Luke didn’t want his bodyguard to drive. He wanted to drive it,” Garth began.
“There was a fisherman and then there was a line, and he went through it and yelled ‘Duck,’ meaning, ‘Don’t let the line catch you,’ and I was like ‘What?’ “
Her castmates joked she probably thought it was a real duck as she continued, “And I got tagged! It didn’t like decapitate me or anything, but it hit my life jacket and hit me off the thing. So then Luke came around and tried to save me, but he hit me in the head.”
