Jennifer Aniston has come under fire for reopening old wounds about her divorce from Brad Pitt as she embraces a new relationship.
The Friends star, 56, rarely talks about her so-called “love triangle” with Brad and Angelina Jolie. But in a new Vanity Fair profile published Monday (August 11), she reflected on the media circus surrounding their split in 2005.
Jennifer admitted she has “some PTSD” from the experience, describing it as “such a vulnerable time” and recalling, “I just remember the experience of doing it — which was kind of jarring. It was also such a vulnerable time. But yeah, that was one for the memoirs.”
“Journalism back then felt more like a form of a sport,” she said. “There’s obviously some PTSD we all have, which is why [interviews] scare me.”
The unlucky-in-love actress dubbed the scandal “the love triangle,” saying the media “made a meal” out of her, Brad and Angelina. Her “survival approach” was to “just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep on walking, girl.”
“It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids,” Jennifer said. “It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy did I take it personally.”
She also admitted she “didn’t have a strong enough constitution” to ignore the speculation at the time. “We’re human beings, even though some people don’t want to believe we are. They think, ‘You signed up for it, so you take it.’ But we really didn’t sign up for that.”
But her comments sparked backlash from fans, furious at the timing. “MEAN AND HATEFUL timing JEN,,, AND JUST days after BRAD bury’s HIS MOTHER. THAT IS THE HEADLINE,” one wrote. Another posted, “She still on this shit girl go heal and move on.”

Brad’s mother, Jane Etta Pitt, died aged 84 earlier this month. His niece Sydney Pitt paid tribute, saying, “If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked.”
Brad, 61, met Jennifer in 1998 and they married in 2000 before divorcing in 2005 after an alleged affair with Angelina on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith. He later wed Angelina, raising six children together before their 2016 split.
Jennifer went on to marry Justin Theroux in 2015, with the pair parting ways in 2018.
Despite their messy breakup, the exes appear to have remained friendly and were even seen hugging backstage at the 2020 SAG Awards.
The F1 actor, 61, has been in a relationship with jewellery executive, Ines de Ramon since 2022.
