Jennifer Aniston is one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood, with the Friends star a staple in the entertainment industry ever since the sitcom debuted in 1994.
Despite her mega success, she still gets bombarded with questions about her personal life, especially when the topic of children comes up.
Over the years, there has been speculation that she was putting her career over having kids, with many suggesting it’s what led to her divorce from Brad Pitt. The Moring Show star spent the last two decades staying mostly quiet on the topic to avoid fanning those rumor mill flames, though she did briefly address rumors that her selfishness played a role in the demise of her marriage directly in 2022, telling Allure, “I just cared about my career. And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child,” she shared. “And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”
At the time, she spoke briefly about her attempts to become a mother: “I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it.”
And the conversation continues today, as Aniston has long been frustrated with the way women in the public eye are judged and scrutinized by the media regarding children. In the latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Aniston reiterated her frustration while shedding more light on her own private family journey.
“They [the media] didn’t know my story, or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family, because I don’t go out there and tell them my medical woes,” she shared with the outlet.

The Bruce Almighty star bluntly addressed the hot topic, standing up for herself as well as many other women in Hollywood, expressing frustrations over false narratives: “That’s not anybody’s business. But there comes a point when you can’t not hear it – the narrative about how I won’t have a baby, won’t have a family, because I’m selfish, a workaholic. It does affect me – I’m just a human being. We’re all human beings.”
Although the culture toward women in the media has improved somewhat today, Aniston says it still exists. She also thinks the idea that women have an expiration date to be mothers is an “old ideology” and “doesn’t exist anymore.”
