The singer recently sat down for an interview with SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show.” During the conversation, she opened up about her struggles as a parent. Jennifer Lopez realized she was not present for her kids
On “The Howard Stern Show,” Jennifer Lopez talked about not being present for her kids, Maximilian “Max” David Muniz and Emme Maribel Muniz, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. As per PEOPLE, the 56-year-old talked about the time when she had to “stay home” with the kids during the COVID-19 pandemic. She stated, “They spoke to me, [and] they’re like, ‘You’re not a regular mom. You’re not here every day. You don’t drop us off and pick us up [like the other parents].”
The singer added, “I realized how much they needed me there.” Lopez claimed that being a single parent pushed her to work more to provide for her children. However, she discovered “it wasn’t just about me giving them a great life.” The diva stated that her twins were accustomed to seeing her working, so when the pandemic started, she got to stay with her family and realized that she needed to spend more time with them.
Lopez further explained that she “realized how much they needed” her there with them. “It wasn’t just about me giving them a great life. It was about me being there for them all the time,” the actor said. She then went on to recall the conversation with the kids as a “wake-up call” as she learned to reject some projects. This led to her “best relationship” with the twins.
Lopez continued, “I just was like, ‘Okay, you’re gonna know — if you didn’t know before how much I love you and that you were the main thing in my life — everything I do for you, you’re gonna f****** know now.” She shared that giving love to her kids is all in her “behavior” and people around her, including her manager, know “that my kids are my priority.” Lopez expressed, “So if I say ‘I can’t do this because of the kids, they just, they don’t even touch it.” She concluded, “They respect it in a way that they know it’s a losing battle.”
