Jessica Simpson may return to the world of reality television with the help of one of Hollywood’s most famous families, according to a source.
A source tells Star that members of the Kardashian family are “pushing her to realize her potential and the explosive economics that go along with being a reality star in the social media age.”
While she’s currently got a documentary in production — in September it was announced that Simpson is working on a project that will “chronicle her long-awaited return to music in more than a decade” — the source notes that the 45-year-old fashion designer’s “early 2000s hit Newlyweds” carved the path for the “Kardashians reality franchise.”
“Jessica loved what came along with being in a groundbreaking reality TV smash: the magazine covers, the movie roles, the endorsement deals, the ability to start her own company,” says the source. “All of those successes had roots in the Newlyweds success, and the Kardashians are just doing their own version of that.”

However the source shares that the former pop star’s “home life is a lot different from when she and Nick Lachey were married.”
Simpson is now a mom to kids Maxwell, 13, Ace, 12, and Birdie, 6, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Eric Johnson. The “Irresistible” singer and the retired NFL star, 45, tied the knot in 2014 and filed for divorce this year.
“Her story right now as a single mom juggling work commitments, family and dating is compelling, and the Kardashians, more than anybody, see that it could make for great television,” the source remarks.
Simpson already has a history with Kim Kardashian as she make a cameo in the 44-year-old Skims founder’s upcoming legal drama, All’s Fair. Additionally, her eldest daughter, Maxwell, is friends with the businessman’s daughter, North West, 12.
