Jill Scott shares how Tyler Perry made her feel uncomfortable on set
American actress Jill Scott has revealed she did not have a good time filming 2007 movie Why Did I Get Married? with Tyler Perry.
The actress stars as Sheila Jackson in the movie who is a woman struggling with obesity, and being horribly mistreated by her husband Mike.
For the role, Jill had to wear a fatsuit and realised her castmates were talking negatively about her character.
Speaking on Angie Martinez’s podcast, Jill admitted she “hated” shooting it.
“They were just going back and forth, making jokes about Sheila’s weight,” she recalled.
Jill recalled filming the plane scene which specifically made her feel deeply uncomfortable.
“I decided that I am not fat, but I have some. And it made me feel better, and that’s how I decided to move through my life.”
The actress revealed that she shared her concerns with Tyler and told him straight up that she hated it.
“Sorry Tyler, I hated that sh*t…sincerely hated that. They were just going at it”, Jill recalled.
The 53-year-old added that the only person who was “cool” on set was her costar Richard T. Jones, who played her husband on screen.
