Less than two months after the release of his surprise album Swag, Justin Bieber has announced his eighth studio album, Swag II, with hardly any warning. On Thursday, its title — in the same font and style as the first Swag, just in bubblegum pink — was displayed on billboards in cities like New York, London, Seoul, Sydney, and Shanghai. While his first album of the year was teased with intimate black-and-white photos of Bieber; his wife, Hailey; and their son, Jack Blues, it looks as though only one image of the family was used for some billboards.
According to Billboard, Swag II will be more pop inspired than its predecessor’s R&B sound, which may help explain Bieber’s using the meme of the black and pink houses in Santa Monica to compare the two albums. So far, he has made more than 20 Instagram posts to promote this latest drop, all with similar captions, such as “Swag II midnight tonight” and just “tonight.”
The new music will be released at midnight on Friday, September 5, just one day after Hailey’s skin-care brand, Rhode, launched at Sephora. It’s a good week in the Bieber household.
