On May 8, the world celebrated documentarian David Attenborough as he turned 100 years old. The conservationist was honored by the Prince and Princess of Wales on social media with a carousel of photos and videos. In 2020, the family met Attenborough, including Kate Middleton and Prince William’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The post included images of the group hanging out with Attenborough in the garden and videos of the children asking him questions about wildlife. It’s a rare moment where the kids can be heard speaking, as they generally make silent appearances in public. And they’re completely adorable.
Louis asks Attenborough which animal is his favorite, saying, “What animal do you like?”
Attenborough replies he loves monkeys because they are “so funny.”
Charlotte asks, “I like spiders, do you like spiders too?”
The wildlife expert claims he loves spiders as well and doesn’t understand why people are so frightened of them because they are “wonderful things.”
George more seriously inquires about what animal may go extinct next. Attenborough’s positive attitude is that he hopes there won’t be any and there is a great deal the public can do to defend endangered animals around the world.
In the caption, Kate and William wrote, “Celebrating 100 years of Sir David Attenborough—a national treasure and an inspiration to us all.”
In March 2026, royal photographer Chris Jackson talked about watching the royal children growing up in the public eye with Page Six.
“You don’t see them very often, but when you do see them, it’s lovely to watch them kind of growing up,” Jackson shared. “I’m guessing they realize it’s not normal to be in these situations.”
He added, “It’s lovely to see them interacting together. Photographing them over the years has been really special.”
